Whitney Houston Inspired 80s Rock and Pop Jam

 

Inspired by Whitney Houston's single "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," I recorded this 1980s style rock and pop jam for my YouTube channel. The '80s saw some of the best pop music ever recorded, in my opinion. We're talking Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and many more. I'm inspired by Whitney Houston, as well as her producer, Narada Michael Walden, and her guitarist, Corrado Rustici. Both Walden and Rustici have had illustrious careers and remain leaders in the music industry.


In this video, I wanted to capture the playful vibe of Whitney Houston's pop music from the 1980s while staying true to the rock guitar tones of the era. I was thinking of Eddie Van Halen and Slash specifically, so I went with a slightly phased and distorted high-gain guitar sound. It took me some tweaking of knobs to get it right, but the end result felt true to the era. I'm always learning and can't wait to post more videos inspired by iconic moments in music history.
